The CUSTODIANS: Serpent's Sleep

Some doors are sealed to keep the world safe.Physicist Kabir Chowdhury has spent his career listening to the sounds others cannot hear. Haunted by a warning he once failed to make anyone believe, he has retreated into the quietest room in India. Then a secret assignment takes him beneath the ancient temple of Sree Padmanabhaswamy, where a sealed stone door holds a sound that should not exist. His investigation begins with instruments and measurements. It leads to a broken song, a hidden lineage of guardians, and a discovery that threatens everything he understands about the world. For generations, the Custodians have preserved fragments of knowledge whose full meaning has grown dangerously obscure. Now the balance they protect is failing. A fallen keeper believes that ending the present world will allow a better one to emerge, while a shadowy organization called Kalpa sees an opportunity to seize the power behind the ancient safeguards.Drawn into the struggle alongside Tara and Ila, Kabir must follow a trail from the temple's buried chambers to Mount Kailash and beyond. Each discovery brings him closer to understanding the mechanism that binds distant sacred places together. Each attempt to intervene risks completing the catastrophe he hopes to prevent. And someone already knows enough of the song to begin. The Serpent's Sleep blends Indian mythology, speculative science, and ancient mysteries in a thriller about grief, dangerous conviction, and the human cost of guarding a secret. At its heart is a man who must decide whom to trust when evidence offers no easy answers and silence is no longer safe. The first novel in The Custodians series by Orion Selene.
