The Creature between dreams

In a place older than most dreams and ideas, the little drift between sleeping and waking, where clouds carry the dreams of humankind, lives a quiet race of Keepers. Their task is older than memory, to watch the border, to guide what wanders and protect little dreams from becoming worlds no mortal hand can govern.Among them Azriel, the youngest keeper with a heart slightly too tender, is at long last handed the duty of the sacred lantern. With the lantern's light he must destroy the dark and protect the innocent. But alas, the old law does not speak of everything that waits beneath fear. For in this peculiar realm, even the most ghastly thing once wished to be softer. And Azriel must learn that kindness is not the absence of courage, rather the rarest form of it.This is a short symbolic fantasy story, for older children and young adults, simple in language but rich in meaning.
