THE BOY ON CURB: Book One: Birth to Eighteen

At eleven years old, Carter Evans was left outside Child Haven with a black garbage bag holding nearly everything he owned. But that curb was not the beginning. The Boy on the Curb is the true story of a childhood shaped by abuse, abandonment, foster care, homelessness, hunger, violence, survival, and the desperate search for somewhere to belong.Told through Carter's own memories, family accounts, recovered records, and the perspective of the man who survived it, this memoir confronts not only what was done to him, but what survival eventually taught him to become. This is not a story about remaining a victim. It is a story about accountability, forgiveness, survival, and the lifelong fight to become something different from the people who hurt you. Some childhoods teach you how to live.Others teach you how to survive. The Boy on the Curb is Book One of a two-part memoir.
