The Book Of Woe Remastered- Novel

The Book of Woe: Remastered NovelVincent Poe has been writing since he was fifteen years old, sitting on the floor of a bedroom in Holyoke, Massachusetts with a composition notebook and nowhere else to put what he was carrying. Over eleven years he filled forty-three notebooks. This book came from all of them.*The Book of Woe: Remastered* is a 300-page prose novel following one man through a summer and fall in Springfield, Massachusetts. It is about living with PTSD - not the dramatic version, not the version where the wound closes and the credits roll, but the actual daily version. The grocery store trigger on a Tuesday. The 4 AM writing session when sleep will not come. The cereal eaten standing over the sink. The cats who stay when the nights get long. The desk that is always there when nothing else is.Written entirely in the third person - not evasion, but a deliberate formal choice. It is the only grammatical distance that allowed the interior of trauma to be seen clearly enough to describe accurately. This book does not follow the wound-to-healing arc. There is no single moment of transformation. There is instead what survival actually looks like in practice - the ongoing management, the daily showing up, the writing through it because the writing is the only thing that has ever reliably helped. It is for the person who has been carrying something they could not name. For the person who has been told that what they are experiencing is weakness rather than the body's accurate response to what happened to it. For the person at 3 AM who needed to know they are not alone in it.About the AuthorVincent Poe is an independent poet and author based in Springfield, Massachusetts.
