The Beginning of Me

Gabe's life was upended weeks before he started high school, when his father was sentenced to five years in prison. Ever since, Gabe's life has been about figuring it out-how to be the man of the house and a role model for his little brother; how to control his anger and stay out of fights; how to be a successful student; and how to forgive his father. Now it's senior year and he's rocking it-grades up, temper down, college applications in, and a sweet first boyfriend. When he learns that his father has been granted parole, Gabe knows he should be happy, but he's finally balancing everything-school, family, work, boyfriend-and he is worried that his father's return will upset this delicate balance. And it does. Gabe knows that the only way to keep moving toward his future is to confront his dad about the past.
