The Apartment: Home As Artspace

The Apartment: Home As Artspace is an exhibition archive and collection of perspectives from artists and curators, documenting the experience of gallery-making in a home. It explores the place of art in domestic space, and domestic artspaces within culture. 'Apartment-gallery' describes a space that is shared by art and home, but what more does this mean? The Apartment: Home As Artspace offers an intimate exploration of exhibition practice and first-hand accounts of domestic artspaces, revealing that these homes are not neutral containers for art, but active, multifaceted sites that form a rich niche of cultural production. Featuring writing and interviews from: Hans Ulrich Obrist, Jeremy Deller, Shaun McDowell, Bobby Dowler, Matthew Stone, Daisy Sanchez, and apartment-galleries Final Hot Desert, Gallery Celine, 13B Gallery, KIP Gallery, Gaylord Fine Arts, Housework Presents, and bbberlin.
