Before Earth was called "Earth", a war broke out. The Shining City lies in blackened ruins. Living life and machines are divided, separated into Tribes and territories. On the second moon, construction of the space settlement meets setback after setback as the Angel-I fight with each other. Reness and Jos grow up in this time and discover the VirtualWorld, a place that exists over and within the natural world. Meanwhile, Louine begins his journey to save his dying wife, and he must venture to his origins and across Gaia to find an Angel-I healer to save her. On his way, he encounters many others who also wrestle with acceptance and their places within the changing world. Distrust abounds. Free will and choice are weapons that shape the world now.
