Inspired by the author's lived experiences, That Woman tells the story of a Kurdish immigrant woman living in Norway who believes only in love. Her friends and lovers are also among the world's displaced-people exiled from their homelands, broken by loss and violence. Their presence in her life brings her closer to understanding herself. She recounts the events of her life through a series of letters addressed to her Afghan lover, who is no longer alive. After receiving devastating news from Afghanistan, he became incapable of loving anymore. In the aftermath of this tragedy, the woman, overwhelmed by helplessness, tries to speak to him through a series of fragmented narratives drawn from her living nightmares.
