Teaching and Learning the Concept of Ionic Bonding

In the teaching and learning of chemistry in 9th grade at the Cabinda-Angola Teacher Training High School, there are difficulties in identifying, formulating, and classifying ionic compounds and their properties. An assessment of the teaching and learning processes related to ionic bonding foundthat the deficiencies observed in students are partly due to the commonly used methodological approaches, which rely on the theoretical transmission of content, leading to a lack of student motivation, low interest in chemistry, and poor academic performance. With the aim of minimizing the detected difficulties, a methodological proposal was developed in conjunction with a system of teaching resources that integrates practical experiments, focused on motivation and skill development. The proposal was validated by experts and its effectiveness was demonstrated through practical application in the teaching and learning of ionic bonding in 9th grade.
