Tea Tourism and Sustainable Hospitality

From humble farm produce to a cultural icon, money-spinner, and attractant for adventure tourism, tea has come a long way. Eco-tourism placed rural and semi-rural tea estates in the limelight as more tourists interested in tea culture choose to visit tea gardens. Plantation tours, stay, festivals, and tea tasting are some of the activities that fall under tea tourism, having a combination of hospitality, agriculture, and tourism. It makes the economy thrive by providing jobs for people, livelihood for the small business, and increased income for the community. Preservation of history, civic pride, and improved hosts' and guests' communication are all such positive social impacts. Organic production of tea and waste disposal are merely a couple of examples of environmentally friendly practices promoted by tea tourism and advocated by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Increased supply through better transportation, smart advertising, and electronic media further increases competitiveness.
