Targeted For Termination

I never imagined that my career with the Los Angeles Police Department would end not with retirement, not with celebration of service, but with a termination designed to silence me. I joined the Department with pride, believing in the oath I took, believing that the badge represented justice and fairness. But the reality of the LAPD in the 1990s-its culture, its politics, its treatment of officers of color-revealed a different truth. This book is not just my story. It is the story of how one officer, and one group of Black officers, dared to speak out for reform when silence would have been safer. It is the story of how the system retaliated, and how that retaliation exposed the deep cracks in an institution that claimed to serve and protect. I tell it not for revenge, but for record. For those who will come after me. For the officers who will find themselves standing where I once stood. For the community that deserves to know what happens when an officer refuses to bow to politics and power. The LAPD tried to bury me under false charges, silence me with isolation, and erase me with termination. What they didn't understand is that termination is not an erasure-it is a testimony. This is that testimony.
