Seven decades ago, modern sugarcane irrigated agriculture at large scale was started by establishing Wonji sugar factory (1951 G.C) subsequently Shoa, Metahara and Finchaa sugar factories came into picture. That was the first reason for selecting and focusing on the three factories in this handbook. The handbook is all about design principles, operations and technologies of irrigation schemes of these factories. It is prepared for personnel involved in operation and field management activities i.e. irrigators, experts, supervisors and managers are the first customers. It can be used for rehabilitation works. It can also be used by experts of other scheme managers, scholars (researchers), higher education students and instructors, design experts and so on.
