Studies in Engineering Geomorphology: Geomatics and Artificial Intelligence

This book presents modern trends in engineering geomorphology as a branch of applied geomorphology and one of the significant fields concerned with human problems, which makes it a practical and applied science. Foreign studies have been characterized by their diversity and richness in research topics, unlike Arab studies. During the 1960s and 1970s, engineering geomorphology studies focused primarily on a single research direction: landslides. However, in the last decade, this focus has expanded to encompass other research areas like fluvial engineering geomorphology, wetlands, and slopes. Furthermore, geographic information systems and remote sensing have become the most widely used applications and techniques in engineering geomorphology research, providing more reliable data and results that can compete with other disciplines. This study aims to assess the relationship between physical hazards and human activities through geoinformatics and artificial intelligence applications, particularly evaluating the effectiveness of protection measures against slope, flash flood and river erosion.
