STALWART: A JEWETT FAMILY HISTORY

The history of people whose surname is Jewett in America has been collected and preserved for 400 years. This volume is a small addition to that information but specific to one ancestor's descendants. Benjamin Jewett, one man of the Seventh Generation of American Jewetts, is a common ancestor to many Jewetts today. They are living across America and are directly related to one another. This book is filled with stories from the first two Jewett brothers and their families' arrival on the ship John of London in Massachusetts in 1638 and their Puritan settlement at Rowley. For the first 200 years, about six generations, they moved throughout New England, in the 1830's they began to move to the Midwest. Those first two centuries are summarized and the next two hundred years are highlighted by primary sources about their lives. Their letters and diaries tell their tale during those two centuries.
