An expansive poetic cycle of epic and tragic scope, retracing the final stages of the War of Wrath and the fall of the legendary fortress of the First Enemy, while completely overturning the canonical perspective: the narrative voice stands wholly with the vanquished, the servants of the Abyss. Clearly rooted in a free reinterpretation of Tolkien's munificent Legendarium, the work takes the form of a war memorial and spiritual testament written by Grubnash, a surviving Orc and veteran of the forges of Angband, who has taken refuge in the bowels of the earth in order to preserve for generations yet to come the uncorrupted memory of his kind.
