There are Cultural Keys that are not readily available to other cultures. So, it also is with the First Nations/American Native Culture. Even among those, there are sacred parts of the culture of a tribal entity that are not shared outside of the tribe itself. This fictional story is based on actual traditional aspects of a Puget Sound Salishan tribe's Naming Ceremony. The aspect of acquiring an adult name and the honor and responsibilities of carrying that name is indeed truth.
