Bol Nell Ortiz has one plan: swing as hard as she can and hit the winning home run in the biggest game of the year. But when her new team, the Cottonwood Crickets, keeps losing games to strikeouts and mixed-up throws, Coach Bex teaches them something Nell's never heard of - small ball. Bunting the runner over. Backing up a teammate's throw. Calling out exactly where the ball needs to go. It's not flashy, and it's definitely not a home run - but inning by inning, the Crickets start to click. When the championship comes down to the final at-bat, Nell has a choice: swing for the fences like she's always dreamed, or lay down the softest, smartest bunt of her life and let her team win together. A warm, funny, real-baseball story about the unglamorous plays that actually win games - and the quiet joy of a win that belongs to everybody.
