Shot Through the Heart

Secret Service Agent Allie Gordon has one rule: Don't get involved with the subject of an investigation. She broke that rule once and paid the price. When a US senator is threatened, Allie goes undercover to shadow the senator's chief of staff-the FBI's prime suspect. As the two grow closer, Allie's only rule gets harder and harder to keep. Nicole Lancaster has three rules: no blondes, no strings, and absolutely no second dates. Stress and scandals are easy enough to handle, but emotional attachments? Nope. When a compelling brunette shows up just as the threats escalate, Nicole begins to suspect not everyone is who they claim to be-including the woman who makes her want to break every rule. When Nicole vanishes after an assassination attempt, Allie must uncover the truth-and her feelings-before it's too late. But all the evidence points in one direction: Nicole orchestrated the whole thing. And her motive is simple-revenge.
