Bol Shapes in the Sky is a children's book that focuses on grief. The journey that Harriet goes on to understand death and grief is inspiring, and it is lovely to see her supported by her mam. The book shows loss and love as a silent, ongoing presence. Symbolically introducing sadness and loss is very important because trying to explain these hard topics to a child can be difficult for adults and confusing for children. Having a soft, calming and touching book and using it as a psychological tool is really good for emotional development.
