In 1980, he joined the U.S. Army and became an Airborne Ranger, Pathfinder, and jungle expert. With the Berlin Brigade, he became fluent in German. He received a Writing Scholarship award. Then, he worked as an executive compensation administrator.In 2004, Clement moved to Florida and became a community association manager. He is married to Lynn.
