Set Pieces in Soccer

In recent years, the systematic study of football has demonstrated the importance of set pieces, regardless of the level and gender of the participants or the tournament they are playing in, both for the goal scoring and the final result of the match. Despite their importance, there appears to be a gap in the contemporary football/soccer literature, which this book hopes to fill. It aims to take a holistic approach to the subject, providing scientific knowledge as well as the theoretical background that every football coach should possess regarding set pieces. Importantly, the book examines both the offensive and defensive function of the team in set pieces, while emphasis is also placed on preparation for the next stage, namely the offensive or defensive transition. At the same time, however, the book offers a large number of routines (drills) that coaches can incorporate into their training sessions to effectively prepare their players in practice.
