THIS COLLECTION OF POETRY AND STAINED GLASS takes its title from the eight seasonal festivals celebrated by the ancient Celtic people of Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Scotland, Brittany, and the Isle of Man. The people of this agricultural culture patterned their lives in accordance with the events of the heavens-the cycles of dark and light-and the planting and harvesting times that shaped and sustained their lives. In seeking connection with her Welsh heritage, and believing that these great cycles of the Eightfold Year still affect our daily lives, Ms. Williams has created stained-glass images for the eight festivals and arranged her poetry in accordance with the psychological and spiritual meaning of each. Her work describes not only how they were traditionally celebrated, but how we might celebrate them, too-harmonizing with the spirit of the turning seasons and deepening and enriching our connection to the planet and its cosmic cycles.
