De beelden tonen een cocktail van nostalgie, geschiedenis, esthetiek, romantiek, emotie, realisme, sociale aspecten en een snufje humor. Het boek is bedoeld als een poging om de ziel van het tankstation bloot te leggen, waarbij een nogal saai alledaags thema wordt omgevormd tot een levendig, creatief, soms bijna sexy onderwerp. Het boek bestaat uit 96 pagina’s met 70 afbeeldingen van 40 verschillende kunstenaars (vooral fotografen maar ook enkele schilders). Het is een tweetalig boek (Engels/Nederlands) van formaat 23×23 cm.
