Nobody expects school to be fun, not even mermaids. Celena and her friends only begin to enjoy (though they would hate to admit it) when a field trip leads them to the deepest part of the ocean, the Mariana Trench. When setting up camp on the shore, they realize how polluted the beaches are, how unkind humans are to the Ocean and all her creatures. They realize that the essence of being a true mermaid lies in conserving the Ocean.
