Susana and her longtime friend, Nanette, looked forward to their senior year at Parkmount High. They thought life would have the same familiar situations as their junior year. Susana kept two mares at a stable where Juan Pablo, a stable hand with little formal education but considerable wisdom, would usually offer friendly conversation.
