Re-Visiting The Umma (Muslim Bloc) Evolution and Narrative

Hossein Alizadeh (1965) is a former senior officer in international political affairs and former charge d'affaires at the Iranian embassy in Helsinki. He served for 22 years as a career diplomat at the Iranian Foreign Ministry. Following the 2009 rigged presidential election, he stepped down from his career in support of Iran's Green Movement.Since then, he has been an independent freelance journalist, contributing through his articles (some 700) and interviews (2600) to a variety of media in Persian, Arabic, and English on Iran, the Arab world, Islam, Middle East studies, and international issues.He received his B.A. in Philosophy from Tehran University and his M.A. in International Relations (specialized field: Diplomacy & International Organizations) from the School of International Relations (SIR) in Iran. He is awarded a doctoral degree from the SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES in the field of PEACE AND CONFLICT RESEARCH at the University of Tampere, Finland. This book offers a unique and in-depth analysis of the dynamism inherent in the concept of the 'Umma' in political Islam, conceptualizing it as a unified political 'bloc' in the modern parlance of International Relations.
