17-year-old Mikayla Birdwing is an unwilling student of Lynbrook, a boarding school owned by one of the richest families in the country-the Kite Clan. Deadly gas leaks out from beneath Lynbrook's clocktower into the surrounding area, and the school is in lockdown. Mikayla spent weeks hoping for the Kites to fix the issue before realizing that it would never happen. The Kites seem to believe the leak is far enough away on the other side of campus not to be a big deal. They're wrong. As the pressure builds, the slightest spark could rip apart the school. Amid doubts and rumors of deeper conspiracies at play, Mikayla has no choice but to execute a plan to save herself and the other Lynbrookians. Her frantic letters to her mother had all been met with silence. Luckily, her dad answered his letters and is on his way. Hours from the beginning stages of her escape, strange occurrences happen upon Lynbrook and those who reside within its gates. Visitors will not be kindly welcomed.
