Albert Moervel is an old up-tight homosexual who lives in the nice part of town and attends nauseating extremist political meetings. Leon Mondor is an aged, disillusioned Jew who lives alone in his small suburban home since his wife's death. Nothing should have caused these two men to meet and yet one day they find themselves betting together at the horse races as if they still might have a chance to win it big. When Leon notices his dearest friend's ring on Moervel's finger, terrible memories emerge. He then devises a plan to get Moervel to his home and there, face to face, in a horrific yet meaningless huis clos, the two men attempt to dissect the dreadful past that scarred them for life.
