QoL, WLB, Org. Commitment & Occupational Stress Police Constables

This book explores the challenging life of police constables, focusing on gender and age differences in quality of life, work-life balance, organizational commitment, and occupational stress. Using standardized psychological scales, data were collected from constables across four districts of Maharashtra. Findings reveal that male and younger constables report better quality of life and work-life balance, while female constables show stronger organizational commitment but face higher occupational stress, especially in older age groups. Policing is a highly stressful occupation, balancing rising threats of violence and increasing public expectations. Work-life balance affects not only individuals but also their families and communities. Organizational commitment impacts both personnel and the institution. Rising stress has contributed to suicide attempts among police personnel. The book emphasizes psychosocial challenges in policing and the need for gender- and age-sensitive interventions, proposing policies to enhance mental health and efficiency. It is useful for researchers, officers, constables, and administrators.
