Psychologists and Psychology

This treatise on Deontology and the Legal Organization of Psychological Practice is a frame of reference for psychology students and young psychologists. It contains the various ethical and deontological recommendations and requirements governing all practicing psychologists. In addition, a number of principles and legal acts covering the psychologist's profession are briefly described. However, as pointed out in the introduction, since psychology is a recent and less developed discipline in sub-Saharan Africa in general and in DR Congo in particular, it is important to remember that this treatise draws heavily on contributions from the Western world, more specifically the French bath (in France), where efforts are more advanced. As the profession of psychologist is a universal one, the ethical and legal foundations of psychological practice are based on what has been done in other countries, adapted to the local context. In short, we remind you that respect for the psychic dimension of the individual is an inalienable right. Recognition of this right underpins the work of psychologists.
