Project Thabo

{PROJECT THABO: PRELIMINARY MARRIAGE VIABILITY AUDIT} {FILE C: FISCAL INTEGRITY \& LIQUIDITY ASSESSMENT} Book Overview "Love is blind. The In-Law Committee has 20/20 vision." In the grand architecture of human relationships, "meeting the parents" is traditionally framed as a simple exchange of pleasantries over roasted meats and a polite nod of mutual respect. Yet, in specialized households, specifically those governed by retired public prosecutors, sharp-eyed legal minds, and aunties whose collective gaze can accurately estimate a man's credit score simply by inspecting his loafers, hospitality is merely the front page of a much larger binder. Project Thabo by Davis Morena Motaung is a sharply observed, laugh-out-loud satirical masterpiece that re-imagines the classic family interrogation as a full-scale, institutional commission of inquiry. Inspired by the solemn, high-stakes legal proceedings of South Africa's national commissions, the novel peels back the absurd, hyper-formalized tension of domestic politics to uncover the fierce, protective devotion that sits at the heart of every family. When Thabo arrives at the Mokoena residence expecting a quiet Sunday lunch of beef and rice, he steps instead into a live courtroom. The dining table has been stripped of its lace and replaced with open laptops, glass carafes, inverted tumblers, laser-printed nameplates, and a digital projector casting a 48-point header onto the wall: PROJECT THABO: PRELIMINARY MARRIAGE VIABILITY AUDIT.
