Problems of Christianity

What happens when you stop accepting inherited answers and start investigating the questions yourself? The Problems of Christianity is an independent examination of several fundamental questions at the heart of Christian belief.Drawing from a lifetime of firsthand experience within the Russian-speaking Pentecostal Christian tradition, Pyotr Troyan examines Christianity from the perspective of someone who was raised inside the system, participated in its teachings and practices, and ultimately left the Church in his search for God.This book explores five major problems: - The Eucharist - What is it, and what is it supposed to accomplish?- Confession - What is the purpose of confession, and what does it actually change?- Christ as God - How should the identity and nature of Christ be understood?- Free Will - Is human free will truly free, or is it limited by forces beyond our awareness?- God Almighty - What does it actually mean for God to be omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient?Troyan does not approach these questions from the position of an institutional theologian. Instead, he approaches them as an investigator: observing, questioning, comparing ideas, examining contradictions, and challenging assumptions. The result is not an attempt to provide another simplified interpretation of Christianity. It is an invitation to look beneath the surface of familiar beliefs. What if some of the problems attributed to Christianity are actually problems of interpretation, human institutions, inherited ideas, or the way people understand God?What if leaving the Church does not necessarily mean leaving God?And what happens when the search for God continues beyond the boundaries of the institution? The Problems of Christianity is written for readers willing to question, investigate, and think independently-even when the questions lead into uncomfortable territory. The investigation begins with Christianity. The questions ultimately lead much further.
