The DRC's health care system is structured around primary health care, which is essential for ensuring universal access to health care. Primary health care is centered on the needs and preferences of individuals and communities, providing services for health promotion, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care. This care also emphasizes community participation in the management of the health system and cost management.The health system is organized into three levels: peripheral, intermediate, and central, with 515 Health Zones serving as the basic units of health planning. The Ministry of Public Health, Hygiene, and Social Welfare plays a key role in implementing Universal Health Coverage, which aims to protect Congolese citizens from the financial burden of out-of-pocket health care costs.The Congolese health care system is also working to improve access to essential health care for all Congolese citizens, ensuring social protection for all without the risk of financial ruin.
