Foundational Learning SystemSimple language. Serious ideas.Small books. Deep understanding.Designed for clarity, not complexity. These books are written in simple language because understanding should not require unnecessary complexity.Present Absent explores one of the most basic distinctions we use to understand the world: whether something is present or absent.Something may be present in one place and absent from another. Something that was present may become absent. Something that was absent may become present. By learning to recognize and describe these differences, children build a foundation for thinking about place, change, observation, and meaning.Using approachable language and concrete examples, Present Absent develops these ideas carefully, without requiring children to memorize complicated terminology or rules.Present Absent is part of the Place of Understanding(R) Series, which introduces the foundational ideas from which knowledge is built. The books intentionally use simple words and compelling photographs because understanding grows from simple ideas. They are designed to support curious readers across a wide age range as they develop clear thinking and a deeper appreciation for how knowledge is organized.
