PORT SIDE OF A PORT'S MOUTH

Sixteen-year-old Lorenzo "Lil City" Carter has spent his life trying to stay afloat in Southside Gardens, where an empty refrigerator often makes louder decisions than a full conscience. With a weary mother struggling to keep the lights on and a younger brother depending on him, Lorenzo accepts what seems like a simple errand from the charismatic Brickey Brim, a respected neighborhood figure whose opportunities promise relief from poverty. What begins as one quiet "yes" draws him into a world where every favor carries a price and every choice pushes him further from the life he once imagined. Alongside his lifelong friends, the calculating Fast, the steadfast Stick, the unpredictable Moodring, and the loyal but vulnerable Coolie, Lorenzo finds himself navigating fragile friendships, mounting betrayals, and a growing conflict between Portsmouth and Norfolk that threatens to consume everyone caught in its tide. Across the harbor waits Blip, a volatile rising force whose arrival signals that old rivalries are becoming new wars.
