The methodology included both qualitative and quantitative phytochemical analyses. In the quantitative section, emphasis was placed on the lowry method for protein estimation, a widely accepted technique based on protein-copper ion complexation. Additionally, we conducted prior estimation of several key phytochemicals including alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, steroids, sugars, starches, and amino acids to assess the broader nutritional and therapeutic value of the selected plants. To evaluate their potential anticancer activity, Sulforhodamine B(SRB) assay was performed on COLO-205 (colon cancer) cell lines using extracts of the selected weed plants. Among the all tested species, Albizia lebbeck (L) Benth emerged as the most promising species, showing the highest levels across all tested phytochemical parameters, including a significantly high protein concentration. This indicates its strong potential as a natural, nutrient-dense veganprotein source with additional phytotherapeutic benefits. Moreover, the SRB assay suggested a possible anticancer property in some plant extracts, with Albizia lebbeck (L) Benth again showing notable bioactivity.
