Philosophy of Education

The book Philosophy of Education: Perspectives and Approaches brings together six chapters produced by students on the Master's Degree in Education - Teaching Methodologies and Didactics at Save University, exploring philosophical themes applied to education. It discusses the role of education in the formation of citizenship, analyzing history programs in the light of historical materialism and Paulo Freire's pedagogy. It addresses Sartre's existentialism and its implication in the centrality of the student, as well as Emmanuel Mounier's personalism, reflecting on education in times of pandemic. It also highlights the theory of complexity in teacher training and debates on professional ethics and deontology. The book advocates a humanist, emancipatory and critical education, aligned with participatory and contextualized methods, with a focus on valuing the person, dialogue and social justice. It is a plural and current contribution to the educational debate in Mozambique.
