Performing Normal

Are You Tired of Pleasing Others While Never Being Yourself?Performing Normal is a deeply personal memoir about trauma, family systems, self-abandonment, and the hidden cost of trying to be "good" for everyone else.Amy Watkins defines "performing normal" as the quiet, often invisible act of abandoning your own wants, needs, and instincts to maintain connection, avoid conflict, and feel loved. Raised in an environment shaped by fear, religion, and emotional suppression, Amy learned early to disappear inside everyone else's needs.Through personal stories of religious conditioning, family dysfunction, narcissistic relationships, marriage, motherhood, divorce, and healing, Amy explores the unconscious ways people silence themselves. Blending memoir with psychological insight, Performing Normal is a powerful story of survival and a guide to reconnecting with your authentic self.
