Perfectly Respectable People: A Collection of Short Stories

Welcome to Middle ItchenstokeA picture-perfect English village where the hedges are neatly trimmed, the roses bloom, the church bells ring and everyone is, naturally, perfectly respectable.Or so they'd have you believe.Behind the net curtains and well-tended gardens, the villagers are keeping secrets, nursing grudges, falling in love, behaving badly and occasionally getting themselves into the sort of trouble that really ought to be kept out of the parish newsletter. From the village shop to the pub, from newcomers and old-timers to those who know everybody's business before they know it themselves, Perfectly Respectable People is a collection of funny, touching and sometimes surprisingly dark stories about village life, and the extraordinary things ordinary people get up to when they think nobody is looking. After all, in Middle Itchenstoke, appearances matter. >With stories by Alex Woolf - Edward Blades - Belinda Kelderhouse - MC Gardner - Michelle Rae Lee - Christopher Webster - Ruth Masters - Andrew Middleton - Liah S. Thorley - Victor Flute - Tessa Woodward
