Parents on Dyslexia

So there I was at that school. The year was divided into three terms . . . Then my mother pulled me through the first term, hauled me through the second and dragged me through the third . . . But I did start reading lots of cartoon strips. Of course they don't make you very much wiser, though eventually I became an ace at recognising such words as RIFF, SMASH and UGH . . . I was always going on about 'meads and persons' and it turned out that it needed to be 'Medes and Persians'. Dyslexic people tell in their own words what it means to have reading and spelling problems. The problems are mapped out taking parents' and children's' everyday experiences as the starting point. Questions covered include: What actually is dyslexia? How can you recognise it early? Must your child go to a special school? What as a parent can you do about it?
