PAPILA: Fast, Absurd, and Dangerously Everyday Humor — Volume 1

Everyday life is already absurd. PAPILA simply draws it. Welcome to a world of impossible jobs, questionable decisions, bureaucracy, money problems, family chaos, strange conversations and characters who somehow manage to make ordinary life even more complicated. More than 170 full-color pages of graphic humor, sharp observations and unexpected punchlines. PAPILA - Volume 1: The Discovery opens the door to a universe of graphic humor where the most ordinary situations can take the most unexpected turn. At first glance, they are simple comic strips: recognizable characters, everyday conversations and familiar problems. But look again. Behind every scene there is a twist, an absurd conclusion or an uncomfortable little truth waiting to appear. Meet Ben, Rexcartie, Félix, Gloria, Julius and the rest of an eccentric group of characters sharing the same world-and frequently the same problems. Jobs, unemployment, bureaucracy, banks, money, family life, relationships, television, politics, modern society and the small disasters of everyday existence all become material for a very particular kind of humor. The drawing is direct. The situations are familiar. The logic is questionable. >This first volume also takes readers behind the scenes of PAPILA, revealing the origins of the series, its characters and the evolution of its distinctive graphic style.
