Outpatient Anesthesia in Children

First introduced over a century ago, the concept of outpatient anesthesia has undergone significant development worldwide, particularly in the United States, Canada, and several European countries, including Great Britain, a European pioneer in this field. The benefits of pediatric outpatient anesthesia are now widely recognized by all stakeholders. In addition to economic advantages, it reduces the time children are separated from their parents, thereby decreasing perioperative anxiety. Few books have been devoted to outpatient anesthesia in children.
