Our Father in Heaven: How Jesus Taught Us to Pray

Prayer is a vital lifeline for the church worldwide. Prayer can be vibrant and sincere, and yet fail to align with the teachings of Christ. In this book, William Massaquoi presents biblical teaching on prayer that is rooted in an African context. Returning to the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples, Massaquoi demonstrates that the Lord's Prayer is not just a beautiful piece of liturgy, but also offers practical guidelines for believers in how and what to pray - guidelines that are still relevant today. Each chapter expounds upon a section of the Lord's Prayer, bridging the gap between understanding and practice through an explanation of the text and a discussion of how it is practically applied. Massaquoi reminds us that prayer is essential for renewal, growth, and the advancement of the kingdom, but deepening our prayer lives requires more than commitment to the act itself - it requires understanding and obedience.
