ORIXÁS: What No One Told You. The Truth Beyond Tradition.

ORIXÁS - What No One Told You: The Truth Beyond Tradition looks beyond the familiar images, rituals, and simplified explanations surrounding the Orixás to explore the deeper meanings that have often been lost, transformed, or deliberately reshaped over time.Rather than treating the Orixás as distant mythological figures, Zarak Krumfort examines them as complex forces born from African history, spirituality, culture, and human experience. The book questions popular narratives, challenges convenient interpretations, and explores the distance between ancient traditions and the versions that eventually emerged across the Atlantic.Who were the Orixás before their stories crossed oceans? What changed when African beliefs encountered slavery, colonialism, Christianity, and the cultures of the Americas? And how much of what is presented today as ancient tradition actually belongs to a much more complicated historical process?Written for readers who want to look beyond folklore and unquestioned explanations, ORIXÁS does not ask for faith. It asks for curiosity. This is not a manual of rituals, nor an attempt to tell readers what they should believe. It is an invitation to examine the Orixás from another perspective - historically, culturally, symbolically, and critically - and to discover what may exist beyond the traditions we inherited.
