Bol Jackson Segal is a city kid at a country camp, sent there to give his struggling parents "alone time." With divorce looming, Jackson meets a girl of his own and discovers something he is very good at: horseback riding. The last week of the summer finds Jackson trying to negotiate complicated family dynamics, as well as a comic first kiss and a tragedy on a trailride. As he showed in his YA novel "Born Too Short" (winner of a International Book Association Award) and his Broadway musical "13", Dan Elish understands the romantic hearts underneath the macho exterior of boys. In "One Last Ride" he has devised a story for readers of all ages -- a tale laced with refreshing wit and innocence that builds to a finale as satisfying as it is touching.
