North of the Lakes

Jonas Holden has built his career on one rule: evidence first, conclusion second. At Brightline Insurance, that rule has always protected him.Until it starts making him a problem. When a new team leader turns routine feedback into public humiliation, Jonas does what he has always done: he documents everything. But the more he questions, the more the language around him changes. Direct becomes difficult. Thorough becomes obsessive. Resistance becomes a performance issue. Then Jonas finds something Brightline cannot explain. A high-value property claim with impossible timestamps. Records that change after the fact. A contractor who insists he never wrote the report carrying his name. What begins as a workplace complaint becomes something far more dangerous. As Jonas follows the evidence, colleagues become witnesses, private conversations surface where they should not, and the systems designed to protect the company begin closing around him. Every discovery creates another question. Every question gives Brightline another reason to question him. And the deeper Jonas goes, the harder it becomes to tell whether he is uncovering a conspiracy-or becoming consumed by one.Jonas is right about more than anyone wants to admit. But being right is not the same as being innocent.Sometimes you do not need to falsify the evidence to control what happens next.North of The Lakes is a dark corporate psychological thriller about workplace bullying, institutional power, corrupted records, obsession-and the consequences of refusing to let something go.
