new Life Support and Power Supply systems for Orbital Stations: Development of the ISS

In this book, the authors explain the operating principles of the newly developed life support and power supply systems for the International Space Station (ISS), which are based on the previously developed universal electrostatic separator, under conditions of prolonged weightlessness; they describe how round-the-clock water recovery from urine is carried out in the ISS's new life support system; they demonstrate how round-the-clock purification of propellant and process water from contaminants and microbes takes place in the ISS's new life support system under microgravity conditions; illustrate how a concentrate of rapidly multiplying microalgae is produced around the clock to convert the carbon dioxide released into oxygen, and how this concentrate is used as a dietary supplement in the ISS crew's diet during long-duration flights; demonstrate how hydrogen and oxygen are produced around the clock to continuously recharge fuel cells for electricity generation in the ISS's new power supply system in microgravity; and, finally, present the developed diagram of the overall operation of the ISS's new life support and power supply systems.
