My Transvestite Suitcase

Before Pride parades filled the streets, before Stonewall became a rallying cry, queer lives were often lived in secrecy, erased from the record. My Transvestite Suitcase brings that history into sharp focus through a story that is both personal and universal. In a small California beach town of the 1960s, a boy named Alan grows up surrounded by surfboards, secrets, and the slow unraveling of a family teetering between humor and heartbreak. But hidden in the back of a closet lies a battered suitcase-a suitcase that opens the door to another self, another life, and another way of being in a world that doesn't yet have words for it.This bold and intoxicating story traces Alan's transformation into Alana across decades of rebellion, love, and survival. From adolescent crushes and wild friendships to psychedelic adventures, family explosions, and the queer underbelly of Los Angeles and beyond, the narrative hurtles forward with grit, honesty, and flashes of dark comedy. My Transvestite Suitcase is a tale of secrets, a transformational love story, and the fierce beauty of finally stepping into one's own truth.
