Murder at the cathedral Close: Beneath bells, secrets can be deadly.

The first in the Cathedral Town Mysteries, starring Nell and Maggie The cathedral bells toll for luncheon, but for Sir Reginald Ashcombe, one of Alderminster's most respected citizens, death answers the call. Everyone agrees it was a heart attack-a natural end for a man of his age. Everyone, that is, except Nell. A displaced teacup is a detail too small to trouble the police, but Nell knows that sometimes the smallest things speak the loudest. When Sir Reginald's son arrives with disturbing tales of his father's final days-and a chilling warning that some wars never really end-Nell and Maggie find themselves drawn into a mystery that reaches back to the Great War. Behind the polite smiles and polished silver of the cathedral close, old loyalties and darker secrets are beginning to surface. For someone has waited decades to keep the past buried. And now they are prepared to kill to protect it. Welcome to Alderminster, where beneath the cathedral bells, secrets have a habit of turning deadly.
