Murder and Macchiato: 1

Lori Steeplechase expected her first big case as a private investigator to involve surveillance, suspicious spouses, maybe even a little danger. She did not expect it to involve a devastatingly handsome stranger she'd nicknamed Venti Macchiato. But really, what else was she supposed to call him?Lori and her best friend, Roxy, are still trying to make a name for their fledgling investigation firm in downtown Rogers, Arkansas, when Lori's favorite coffee shop delivers considerably more than caffeine. Venti Macchiato turns out to have a real name, a connection to a murder, and the kind of trouble Lori probably ought to avoid.Probably.The police have surveillance footage of the crime, and it appears to show exactly what happened. Case closed.Except Lori keeps looking at the video. And something is wrong.A strange glitch. Details at the crime scene that don't quite match. Little inconsistencies that would be much easier to ignore if Lori weren't the sort of woman who notices things-and then refuses to leave them alone. With defense attorney Hunter Kelly at her side, Lori starts pulling at the loose threads of an apparently airtight case. Unfortunately, somebody would very much like her to stop.Between murder, macchiatos, Roxy's running commentary, and a growing attraction to a man Lori absolutely does not need distracting her, her first big investigation is becoming considerably more complicated than advertised. Then again, nobody said solving murder would be easy. They really should have mentioned what it would do to her coffee schedule.
